Dispensing

Prescriptions and repeat prescriptions

We dispense NHS prescriptions from your GP and other NHS prescribers, and deliver them free to your home, your work or someone you trust.

  • Choose us as your nominated pharmacy, and your prescriptions come straight to us electronically.
  • Where your GP surgery allows it, we order your repeat prescriptions for you. If not, we remind you when they're due.
  • A pharmacist checks every prescription before it leaves us.

Electronic repeat dispensing

If you take the same medicines regularly, your GP may be able to approve a batch of repeat prescriptions in one go, for up to 12 months. We dispense each one when it's due, so nobody needs to ask the surgery each time. Ask your GP surgery whether it's right for you, or ask us.

If a medicine is out of stock

We'll contact you to talk it through. We may suggest you speak to your GP surgery, or, if you'd like, we'll contact the surgery for you about a suitable alternative.

NHS Pharmacy First

Pharmacy First by video

Get advice and, where suitable, NHS treatment, including some prescription medicines, without a GP appointment. Our pharmacist sees you by video call for:

  • SinusitisAged 12 and over
  • Sore throatAged 5 and over
  • Infected insect bitesAged 1 and over
  • ImpetigoAged 1 and over
  • ShinglesAged 18 and over
  • UTIsWomen aged 16 to 64
  1. Call us on 020 3105 6252, or ask your GP practice or NHS 111 to refer you to us
  2. Have a video call with one of our pharmacists
  3. Get treatment, or advice on where to go next

Other criteria apply. Our pharmacist will check whether the service is right for you and, if it isn't, tell you where to go instead. If you usually pay for prescriptions, you'll pay the standard NHS charge for any medicine you're given. Earache in children and young people aged 1 to 17 is also part of Pharmacy First, but it needs an ear examination in person, so we can't offer it by video. Any high-street pharmacy that provides Pharmacy First can help.

Support

When your medicines change

Starting a new medicine, or coming home from hospital with a different one, can be confusing. Our pharmacists are here to help, and both services are free.

New Medicine Service

Just started a new medicine for a long-term condition, such as asthma, COPD, type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure? Our pharmacist can support you by phone or video call over the first few weeks.

  • We check how you're getting on
  • We help with any side effects or worries
  • We answer your questions
Call us to ask about it →

Support after a hospital stay

When you leave hospital, the hospital may send us details of any changes to your medicines. This is the NHS Discharge Medicines Service.

  • We check your next prescriptions match the changes
  • We talk you through anything that's different
  • You can also call us if your medicines have changed

Dosette boxes

Help managing your medicines

If you find it hard to keep track of your medicines, talk to us.

  • Where it's right for you, we can supply your medicines in weekly packs, sometimes called dosette boxes.
  • Not every medicine can go in a pack, so our pharmacist will check first.
  • Need information in a different format, such as large print? Tell us when you sign up or call us, and we'll do our best to help.

Staying safe

Returning unwanted medicines

Please don't put unwanted or out-of-date medicines in the bin, down the sink or down the toilet. Instead, choose one of these:

Give them to our driver

If your delivery comes from one of our own drivers, hand your unwanted medicines over when we deliver.

Take them to any pharmacy

Any local pharmacy will take unwanted medicines and dispose of them safely, for free.

Call us

Not sure what to do? Call 020 3105 6252 and we'll help you find the best way.

Needles and other sharps need a special sharps bin. Ask us or your GP surgery how to get one.

Health advice and self-care

Our pharmacists can advise on minor illnesses and looking after yourself, and point you to the right service if you need more help. For health information, tools and this season's campaigns, visit our Healthy living hub.

Prescription costs

Paying for your prescriptions

  • £9.90per item for NHS prescriptions in England (2026 to 2027)
  • Freefor many people, including everyone aged 60 or over and under 16
  • £0for delivery, always

Who gets free prescriptions?

For example, you don't pay if you:

  • are 60 or over, or under 16
  • are 16 to 18 and in full-time education
  • are pregnant or have had a baby in the last 12 months, and have a valid maternity exemption certificate
  • have certain medical conditions and a valid medical exemption certificate
  • get certain benefits, or have a valid HC2 certificate

Check if you can get free prescriptions on the NHS website.

If you get free prescriptions, tell us why when we first speak to you, and let us know if anything changes. The NHS checks claims, and you may have to pay a penalty charge if you claim free prescriptions when you're not entitled to them.

Save money with a prepayment certificate

If you pay for more than 3 items in 3 months, or more than 11 items in 12 months, a prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) could save you money.
